Florida's Turnpike Not Accepting Cash

Beginning at Noon today (March 19), the Florida Turnpike will not be accepting cash. In a statement, the turnpike said, "To help reduce the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and to help keep toll collectors safe, the Florida Department of Transportation, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise will temporarily not accept cash as a form of payment for tolls. Tolls will still be required, but they will be collected through an electronic process."

Drivers are being encouraged to drive through toll plazas and not stop. Sunpass customers will continue to have tolls posted to their accounts by dirivng through Sunpass lanes. Vehicles without a SunPass will be billed for toll transactions at the posted cash toll rate and receive a Toll Enforcement Invoice in the mail, sent to the address listed on the vehicle's license plates registration.

FDOT says they will continue to closely monitor this evolving situation and will update customers accordingly. Drivers on Florida's Turnpike are asked to pay attention to overhead and portable signs.
